Tom has spent his career focused on helping people to achieve their personal, professional, and financial goals, whether as a counselor in group home settings working with abused children, developing and delivering STEM education to children, financial and insurance planning for families or as an attorney for families and small businesses. Tom is a co-founder of Virtual Training Innovation and Plan for Health and has been intimately involved in the dental industry as the spouse of Yolanda Mangrum, D.D.S. He has supported Yolanda since the founding of her first practice in 1999, from assisting on weekend emergencies to providing legal advice and support on the purchase and merger of dental practices. He was first introduced to Fortune through Yolanda’s practice and he walks the talk having gone through Fortune’s programs starting in 2000.
Tom was previously in private practice with a focus on estate planning and business law. He advised individuals and families on wealth transfer and tax issues and with businesses on wide ranging issues from start-up to sales, mergers and acquisitions and on labor, risk management and contracts issues.
Prior to his legal career, Tom was a financial advisor and life insurance agent he was part of a group that helped to develop and implement the first web-based life insurance quoting and sales program in the industry. He was also general manager for Space Camp California, a non-profit science and education corporation in Silicon Valley. He had bottom line responsibility of the organization, managing over 50 employees and led the development and implementation of multiple programs designed to create positive learning experiences for 1000s of children and also corporate team building programs.
Tom currently spends his off time in Sonoma, CA as president of a board of directors for a local non-profit, coaching little league baseball and just enjoying life with Yolanda and their two sons, Thomas and Patrick.
